I’ve always enjoyed challenging problems and finding inventive ways to solve them. It’s what first drew me to engineering and continues to shape my interests outside of it, from building personal projects to learning new skills.

Growing up near the Canadian Rockies, I developed a deep appreciation for hiking, exploration, and the outdoors. Over time, that passion led me to mountaineering, where I found new ways to challenge myself, push beyond my comfort zone, and continually strive toward more ambitious goals.

  • Conduct research and development into new methods for measuring the viscosity and density of thixotropic drilling fluids, developing and testing experimental hardware to enable real-time characterization of fluid properties and provide insight into downhole drilling conditions.

  • Developed a PoE splitter and custom enclosure to deploy Starlink Mini systems across remote North American drilling rigs, integrating with existing field hardware to provide technician internet access while replacing costly satellite-aiming services and reducing rig-up time and operating expenses.

Mechanical Design Intern | May 24 — Sept 25

  • Owned field-deployed mechanical designs from requirements through production release, applying first-principles analysis, material selection, SolidWorks CAD, FEA, prototyping, DFM/DFA, GD&T, supplier collaboration, and design validation.

  • Designed and deployed a precision electromechanical test platform supporting 2,000+ cable variants through modular connector cartridges, locking mechanisms, and precision locating features; engineered for 50,000 cycles and deployed across 20+ facilities.

  • Develop test plans and conduct prototype verification to identify failure modes and drive design iterations before production.

  • Collaborate with suppliers, manufacturers, and cross-functional teams to resolve tooling, tolerance, material, and DFM constraints through design reviews and drawing revisions, improving cost and manufacturability from prototype to production.

  • Designed and released sealed sensor enclosures for harsh environments, selecting materials and engineering sealing, thermal performance, and interfaces to meet ATEX and IP68 requirements while maintaining DFM, serviceability, and legacy compatibility.

  • Led multiple school-wide assemblies throughout the academic year, sharing engineering experience and providing guidance to high school students interested in pursuing engineering careers.

  • Evaluated CAD assignments and provided individualized feedback on modeling methodology and design best practices; held after-class office hours to answer questions on CAD, design, and engineering.

  • Designed injection-molded enclosures and mounting systems for three IoT products launched to production, engineering draft, wall thickness, ribs, bosses, and fastening interfaces for tooling, assembly, and manufacturing.

  • Conducted iterative thermal analysis to optimize heat-sink geometry for a solar IoT device, reducing operating temperature by 8°C versus the prior design; prototyped sheet-metal bracketry that reduced per-unit cost from $200 to $70.

  • Defined GD&T, tolerances, BOMs, and assembly requirements for production hardware, coordinating drawing releases and design revisions with contract manufacturers to resolve tooling and fabrication constraints.

  • Performed root cause analysis on defective electronic devices by referencing PCB schematics and troubleshooting circuits with multimeters and oscilloscopes, identifying component and assembly failures and recovering over $200,000 in equipment and products otherwise slated for disposal.

  • Fabricated one-off product prototypes for trade shows and investor presentations, 3D printing, sanding, finishing, and assembling presentation-ready hardware used to demonstrate new product concepts and support technical pitches.

  • Soldered and reworked PCB components to build test hardware for laboratory and thermal-chamber testing, supporting characterization of product performance across operating conditions.

  • Designed and fabricated a 0.48-lb pneumatic rack-and-pinion valve actuator for the Ouroboros hybrid rocket, translating a 26 in-lb valve torque requirement into a compact 1.6-in-wide, FOS ≥ 2 design; contributed to 1st Place in the 10,000-ft SRAD category at the 2024 Spaceport America Cup

  • Redesigned 1,000-psi oxidizer pressure-vessel end caps to reduce structural mass while integrating sealing, fluid connections, avionics mounting, and serviceability; performed mechanical analysis and developed CNC machining programs and fixturing to manufacture the final geometry.

  • Took ownership of manufacturing flight and ground hardware using manual mills and lathes, while expanding into CNC machining/programming, waterjetting, laser cutting, and precision hand-tool fabrication to support rapid design-to-hardware iteration.

  • Worked with cross-functional teams to optimize parts for assembly, cost, and volume production.

  • Designed and fabricated antenna mounting and ground-communications hardware connecting the command station to launch-pad systems, creating field-deployable assemblies capable of maintaining alignment and protecting equipment during exposure to wind and outdoor launch conditions.

  • Secured $80,000+ CAD in monetary and in-kind sponsorships for the team’s sixth-generation solar car by engaging companies, coordinating with suppliers and manufacturers, and sourcing critical hardware and components.

  • Represented the team at TEDxCalgary, the Calgary Stampede Parade, school visits, and science-centre presentations, communicating the team’s engineering work to industry partners, students, and the public.
